At the start of the year, we predicted that Verizon would be shutting down its streaming service go90. Six months later and that prediction is becoming a reality.
On July 31, Verizon will officially shut down the streaming service, which was home to forgettable originals such as “t@gged” and “Mr.Student Body President.”
“Following the creation of Oath, Go90 will be discontinued,” a Verizon rep said in a statement. “Verizon will focus on building its digital-first brands at scale in sports, finance, news and entertainment for today’s mobile consumers and tomorrow’s 5G applications.”
After its closure, go90, which launched in 2015, will return the shows and content rights back to its partners, which include companies such as AwesomenessTV and Vice Media.
