Fubo TV, a sports-first live streaming TV service in the U.S., has added AppNexus veteran Geir Magnusson Jr. (pictured) to its team as chief technology officer. Magnusson will report directly to David Gandler, co-founder and chief executive officer.
“We are delighted to welcome aboard Geir,” said Gandler. “He has a strong track record of scaling complex global platforms and a proven ability to guide transformation at leading tech companies. We believe Geir’s expertise and passion for innovation will ensure we maintain our leadership position as we deliver to consumers a next-generation live OTT experience.”
Magnusson, who will double the company’s engineering team over the next few months, will be responsible for accelerating the pace of fuboTV’s tech development and operations.
Magnusson is expected to play a significant role in rolling out future, patent-pending technologies. He will set the company’s technical strategy and focus on scaling out systems and infrastructure that will ensure the platform continues to be ready for future growth. The industry veteran brings three decades of experience leading product and engineering for some of the US’ largest software companies. Prior to fuboTV, he co-founded Sourcepoint Technologies in 2015 and was its chief technology officer until 2017.
