Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine is coming to AT&T’s entertainment platforms, including its Direct TV Now OTT Service. The two companies announced a partnership today that will see Hello Sunshine have its own VOD channel on AT&T’s growing list of distribution avenues such as DirecTV, U-verse, and DirecTV Now.
The new channel will premiere two female-driven original series in the coming months. The first is unscripted series, “Shine On with Reese,” premiering July 17, followed by The Home Edit’s “Master the Mess,” premiering Sept. 4.
“Shine on with Reese” will feature the stories of extraordinary women who have created their own unique paths to success. The show seeks to uncover what inspires, motivates and gives joy to each of these trailblazers featured in the series, which will include celebrities like Dolly Parton, singer/songwriter Pink, and filmmaker Ava DuVernay.
“I am thrilled to have such like-minded, creative collaborators at AT&T to help Hello Sunshine pursue our mission of elevating and showcasing the voices of women that we have such admiration and respect for,” said Witherspoon. “I am so excited for the world to experience the stories from our partnership with AT&T, which are set to be equal parts entertaining, inspiring, thought-provoking and unabashedly real.”
This isn’t the first time Hello Sunshine has tried to reach female audiences via over-the-top distribution. The American media company recently launched a show on Facebook Watch in celebration of mothers day called “Meet My Mom” which featured conversations between celebrities and their mom. The series, which ran for four episodes, averaged about 700k views per episode but experienced a 90% drop in viewership between its first and final episode (a common trend among Facebook Watch Shows).
