More than 260 Western Collegiate Hockey Association games will stream annually on FloSports
FloSports, a streaming platform that focuses on underserved sports fans, has entered into a multiyear deal with the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) to live stream every game hosted by the WCHA Women’s League exclusively on FloHockey.tv. Under the agreement, the streamer will see more than 260 WCHA games stream annually on its OTT platform. The news follows FloSports’ recent announcement to live-stream every WCHA Men’s League game on FloHockey.tv.
Between FloSports’ agreements with the WCHA and a recent deal with the Big Ten Network to distribute non-televised ice hockey events, FloHockey — where the games will live — is now the premiere platform for women’s collegiate hockey.
“The addition of the WCHA Women’s League games is very exciting, and this gives fans the ability to watch one of the most established college conferences in the U.S.,” FloSports SVP, Rights and Acquisition Strategy Adam Fenn said. “The deal also speaks to a larger trend in the industry, with more rights holders expediting their move to OTT as cord-cutting continues to increase. FloHockey is now the top provider for women’s college hockey, and we look forward to adding even more games in the future.”
The WCHA begins its schedule in September and will conclude with the 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff on March 9-10. With this agreement and existing Big Ten-affiliated games, FloHockey will carry 84 WCHA conference games, 44 non-conference or exhibition contests, and as many as 12 playoff games.
