Amazon-owned Twitch is dropping ad-free viewing for its prime members. Ad-free viewing will no longer be part of Twitch’s Prime program starting Sept. 14.
Current Twitch Prime members with monthly subscriptions will continue to get ad-free viewing until Oct. 15, while those who already have an annual subscription or gamers who upgrade to an annual subscription before Sept. 14 will continue with ad-free viewing until their next renewal date.
Twitch Prime launched in 2016 and offered free games, along with free in games loot and more. The program was designed to drive more membership to Amazon Prime, which runs $99 per month.
