TubiTV is taking a page from Amazon’s playbook with a new Channels section on its platform. Cleverly titled Tubi Channels, the new program is launching with channels from MGM, Docurama, Dramafever, Complex, ConTV, Dove Channel, Shout Factory, BabyFirst TV, Wham Network, Combat Go! and Hally Pop. Tubi Channels will begin rolling out on OTT devices and online platforms over the next few weeks through the Tubi app.
“Tubi Channels are essentially Amazon Channels for free video on demand, offering instant distribution across all OTT devices and the growing distribution network of the Tubi app,” said Farhad Massoudi, founder and CEO of Tubi. “Finding audiences in the increasingly fragmented OTT space is incredibly hard, and Tubi Channels makes that process significantly easier for our content partners.”
For the brands working with the AVOD company, the partnership is a chance to tap into Tubi’s growing audience.
“With Tubi Channels, we’re giving content brands more exposure on the Tubi platform, while providing audiences with the fastest path to the content they want to watch,” added Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer for Tubi.
Tubi boasts that its Content Personalization Engine, which increased viewership (time spent on the platform) by 20% the first few days after its launch in 2017, will help brands find an audience that connects with their content. The engine leverages AI technology and proprietary algorithms to personalize on-demand content after learning a viewers viewing habits.
The news comes at a time of strong growth for Tubi. In under two years, the company has nearly tripled the size of its team, jumping from 37 employees 18 months ago to around 90 today. The company also says its revenue has doubled every year for the past three years. With more than 8,500 titles available per month, Tubi has one of the largest libraries of entertainment out on the market.
