“Turbo Fantasy,” an animation based on an average sports center duty-manager-turned-vigilante who lives in another dimension, has been renewed for a second season and will stream exclusively on Ellation-owned VRV.
The series, which is created and financed by the animation company MONDO, was created, drawn, animated and largely voiced by the Scottish animator, Davey Ferguson. The series blends bold, simplistic art styles – borrowing elements from 1960s limited-animation action cartoons – with colorful, unexpected filmmaking techniques that lend the series a distinctive look that combines nostalgia with modern animation trends.
“The animation’s deliberately janky, the camera’s shaky, and there’s dirt on the lens – all to give Turbo Fantasy a feeling of past-its-prime nostalgia on top of a modern self-awareness,” said Ferguson. “I hope the second season will be a hit with fans of the first, and of course introduce Turbo Fantasy to a whole new set of fans through VRV.”
In addition to the premiere of Turbo Fantasy on VRV, MONDO retains international digital and broadcast distribution rights to the series.
“Turbo Fantasy” joins the growing slate of content available on VRV’s MONDO channel, which features a wide array of series produced by MONDO’s production studio Six Point Harness, including “Cat Agent,” “Deep Space 69,” the acclaimed French action thriller “Last Man,” and “Gary and His Demons.”
“VRV is an incredible partner for us. They have a passionate dedication to encouraging creativity and providing a fantastic home for content created by and for fans,” said Brendan Burch, CEO of MONDO and Six Point Harness. “Their platform is growing and has an incredible future, so it’s really exciting to be associated with them — and to have them give us so much encouragement.”
