Sundance 2019: “It’s interesting how things change before you are even aware of it,” actress Alia Shawkat says
This year's Sundance Film Festival has a record number of works by women -- 41 percent of features and episodic works have at least one female director, according to one study.
“It’s a great moment for us as female storytellers,” said the filmmaker Bertie, who directed the festival entry "Troop Zero" with her longtime collaborator, Bert.
The two spoke Monday at a panel about women in film hosted by TheWrap at the Wanderluxxe space in Park City, Utah, where all were in agreement that this year’s Sundance is a lot more diverse than in previous years.
