Michael Chiklis Set to Join ‘Gotham’ Season 2 as Series Regular

“The Shield” actor will play Captain Nathaniel Barnes on Fox’s DC Universe show

Michael Chiklis is heading to “Gotham.”

“The Shield” and “American Horror Story: Freak Show” actor is joining the regular cast of the Fox superhero series in the role of Captain Nathaniel Barnes, a key member of Gotham’s police force.

The DC Universe show stars Ben McKenzie as young Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as an adolescent Bruce Wayne and Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald “Penguin” Cobblepot.

It was created by Bruno Heller.

Jada Pinkett Smith has yet to reveal if she is coming back as villain Fish Mooney for the sophomore season. “I don’t think so, I signed for a year and the year’s up,” she said on “Live With Kelly & Michael” in March.

TVLine was first to report this casting.

“Gotham” Season 2 premieres on Monday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
