Watch Joe and Mika Flirt Awkwardly on ‘Morning Joe’: ‘We Just Crossed a Line’ (Video)

“Nobody wants to see that,” says Scarborough as Brzezinski squirms

“Morning Joe” took an awkward turn on Tuesday morning as co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski enjoyed a little pre-marital affection on-air. At times, it was unclear whether viewers were watching the MSNBC morning show — or the latest “SNL” cold open.

“We just crossed a line,” said Scarborough as he moved to hold Brzezinski’s arm. “We haven’t really done that since we’ve been engaged. Everyone has seen your grandparents kissing and we understand that we’re old people. Nobody wants to see that.”

“Oh God, don’t do that. No, that’s a no. That’s a no. Oh my God,” Brzezinski said.

“What that we’re engaged,” Scarborough teased further.

“No stop, stop,” Mika gasped.

Though their romance has been widely dissected in media, Scarborough and Brzezinski have avoided talking about it on-air.

The chummy moment was precipitated when “Morning Joe” guest Rick Perlstein gently chided Scarborough for cutting off Brzezinski earlier in the show.

The suggestion was something that Scarborough took some exception to.

“Rick, I am curious, did your earpiece go out? Did you not hear her say that before. I knew she was trying to say something and she said it and then I followed up,” he snapped.

The morning host and former GOP Congressman then asked the control room to check if Perlstein’s earpiece was working; they confirmed it was.
