"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" has now grossed more than its predecessor at the worldwide box office — $529 million compared to $524.4 million, Warner Bros. said Tuesday.
The movie opened at No. 1 in North America on Dec. 16, and has grossed $186.7 million domestically and $342.3 million internationally.
"Sherlock Holmes" took $209 million domestically and $315 million abroad.
"Sherlock Holmes," which opened on Christmas Day 2009, cost about $90 million to make. "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," which opened Dec. 16, 2011, cost about $125 million to make.
Guy Ritchie directed both movies.
And both films were produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin.
