America Ferrera, Common, Ann Dowd and Melonie Diaz have joined the cast of “X/Y,” the next film from “The Dry Land” director Ryan Piers Williams.
Williams also stars in the film as Mark, who dates Silvia (Ferrara), two members of a group of friends that struggles to stay united as Mark and Silvia separate.
Ferrera, the star of hit TV show “Ugly Betty,” last appeared in David Ayer’s “End of Watch,” while Common was last in “Movie 43.”
Williams' "The Dry Land" was named Best International Film at the 2010 Edinburgh Film Festival, and his recently produced "Kilimanjaro" had its world premiere at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival.
Production has begun in New York on the film, a character-driven drama that also features Jon Paul Phillips, Dree Hemingway, Adam Rapp, Maria Dizzia and David Harbour.
X/Y is produced by Williams, Ferrera, Thomas B. Fore, Jason Michael Berman and Kwesi Collisson. Executive producers are Mark G. Mathis, Margo Johnston, Dori A. Sperko, Paull Cho, Todd Feuer, Mike Feuer, Jason Silverman, Caroline Kaplan and Kim Gillingham.
