‘Nancy Drew’ Series in the Works at CBS

New drama would follow literary heroine as grown-up NYPD investigaor

A new “Nancy Drew” is coming to TV.

CBS is developing a new series based on the iconic fictional character, a teenage sleuth created by Caroly Keene, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The new series is described as a modern take on the character. Now in her 30s, Nancy is a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.

“Grey’s Anatomy” executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan are writing the new series and acting as EPs. Dan Jinks is also an EP. Rater and Phelan are producing the show under their overall deal at CBS Television Studios.

Several adaptations of “Nancy Drew” have been mounted, including a 2002 TV movie starring Maggie Lawson that was intended as the start of a series. In 2007, Nancy returned to her teen roots as Emma Roberts played the sleuth.
