May is a busy month for Netflix, with a long list of new titles coming to the streaming service, including a whole lot of Netflix originals. One to look forward to is Netflix’s upcoming murder-thriller series “Dead to Me.” Debuting May 3, the series stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as two unlikely best friends –and one (or both) of them are keeping a dirty secret. As a welcomed bonus, we get a lot of screen time with James Marsden, who plays Cardellini’s impossibly charming, on-again, off-j again boyfriend with a few dark secrets up his own sleeve.
We’re also getting “Tuca & Bertie,” a new animated series about a pair of bird-besties voiced by Ali Wong and Tiffany Haddish, and “What/If,” an anthology series that explores morality starring Renée Zellweger. Add to that “Wine Country” starring Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph, Season 3 of “Nailed It!,” Season 4 of “Lucifer” and Season 3 of “Riverdale,” and next month’s binge-watches are just about cut out for us.
But we’re losing a lot of beloved movies and TV shows, too. Classics like “Chocolat,” “Dances With Wolves,” “The Notebook,” and the first 3 “Jaws” movies are leaving May 1, along with “8 Mile,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “The Lovely Bones” and “Sixteen Candles.” On May 19 we lose “Bridge to Terabithia,” and on the 31st, the 1961 classic film version of “West Side Story.”
