Nick Cannon Threatens Lawsuit Against the National Enquirer: ‘More Lies!’

“Look, everyone, see how the media is trying to break a King?” the NBC talent-show host fumes over supposed upcoming article about his “fits of rage”

If Nick Cannon really does end up leaving his job on “America’s Got Talent,” maybe he can line up a new gig as a litigant on “The People’s Court.”

Cannon, who’s said that he wants to bail on the NBC talent show following a flap over his use of the N-word during his Showtime stand-up special, took aim at The National Enquirer on Tuesday, threatening to sue the publication if it runs an article about him.

“MORE LIES!!! So the @enquirer wants to play around with my children,” Cannon fumed via Instagram. “Only Evil operates in this manner. What is the purpose? Except to exemplify pure immoral wickedness.”

The comedian/host added, “If you report these lies expect a slander and defamation lawsuit. Look everyone, see how the media is trying to break a King? It’s all good though, I’m a warrior! I was built for this! Me and my family, my mindset, and my spirit are all stronger than ever. I felt like releasing this so called ‘journalist’ info to the public so you all can get at them, but instead I release nothing but positive energy into the Universe. No weapon formed against me shall prosper! I receive help through prayer and patience!”

Cannon’s diatribe was accompanied by a screen grab of a supposed summary of an upcoming Enquirer article, which would report on how “Nick Cannon has suffered a nervous breakdown and his erratic behavior has given his ex-wife Mariah Carey little choice but to petition for custody of their children.”

Cannon, who married Carey in 2008, has two children with the singer. His divorce from her was finalized last year.

Citing a source, the summary of the supposed upcoming Enquirer article continued that “Nick keeps exploding in fits of rage at his most trusted associates. Nick also bragged on social media, ‘I’m going crazy.'”

“Insiders told The Enquirer that Mariah is concerned for the well-being of their children, Monroe and Moroccan, and will battle Nick in the courts for full custody if she has to,” the summary added.

TheWrap has reached out to the Enquirer for comment.
