Nickelodeon President Russell Hicks Steps Down

Exec oversaw all development and production for live-action and animation across Nickelodeon’s various platforms

Russell Hicks has stepped down as president of content development at Nickelodeon, TheWrap has learned.

Hicks served as president, Content Development and Production for the Nickelodeon Group and oversaw all development and production for live-action and animation across all of Nickelodeon’s platforms and channels, including Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, Nick Jr., TeenNick and Nicktoons.

“Russell Hicks has decided to step down from his position effective immediately,” a Nickelodeon spokesperson told TheWrap.

President of Viacom Kids and Family Group Cyma Zarghami, who oversees TV Land and CMT in addition to the Nickelodeon Group, is set to announce Hicks’ departure in an internal memo on Wednesday. There are no plans for a replacement at this time.

Hicks has served at the network for 18 years, previously as chief creative officer before being elevated to president in 2012.

Deadline first reported the news of Hicks’ exit.
