Obama Press Secretary Gibbs Signs Off: ‘I Will Miss Boring Days at the White House Like Today’

Gibbs’ departure overshadowed by Egypt news

Robert Gibbs didn't exactly get to be the center of attention on his last day.

The White House press secretary signed off just hours after Egypt's president resigned, one of the biggest international news stories of President Obama's term.

"I will miss boring days at the White House like today," he said dryly, as he began what he said was the 250th press briefing of Obama's presidency. And his last as press secretary.

Despite plenty of distractions, his boss found time to send him off in style: Obama returned a tie Gibbs had given him, encased in glass.

Then Gibbs, still very much on the job, began taking questions on Egypt.
