‘The Office,’ ‘Community,’ ‘Parks and Rec’ Renewed by NBC

But no word on “Perfect Couples,” “Outsourced”

NBC has renewed “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Community” for new seasons.

"I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively,” said Bob Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “Along with '30 Rock,' they represent the best of what the NBC comedy brand stands for in terms of originality, wit, and sophistication."

There was no word, however, on the fates of the other two shows in NBC's new three-hour Thursday night comedy block, "Outsourced" and "Perfect Couples," both of which have struggled for ratings.

The move may give industry watchers a sense of how Greenblatt will guide the network since taking over as chairman with Comcast's acquisition of NBCU in January.

There was never any doubt about the fate of the well-rated "The Office," since the show has vowed to press on after the departure of star Steve Carell.

"Parks and Rec" and "Community" doesn't come near its viewership, but both are fun, adventurous shows widely embraced by critics and beloved by many comedy die-hards. And both have the potential to grow, especially with "Parks and Rec"'s casting additions this season, including Rob Lowe.

The Office," airing at 9 p.m., averages a 4.0 rating/10 share among 18-49 year olds. "Parks and Recreation," at 9:30, is delivering a 2.8/7. "Community," leading off the comedy block at 8, averages a 2.1/6.
