During Louis C.K.’s highly-criticized surprise set at the Comedy Cellar on Sunday the disgraced comedian made a joke about rape whistles, two women who say they attended the show told Vulture.

The women said that in the stand-up set, C.K.’s first since he admitted last November to multiple instances of sexual misconduct, he told a joke about the phrase, “clean as a whistle” that transitioned to a punchline about the cleanliness rape whistles.

“When he said ‘rape whistle’ people were laughing, and I was just sitting there like oh my f—,” one of the women, who remained anonymous, said.  “This is so uncomfortable and so disgusting. Everyone around me was laughing. That was just depressing.”

According to the other woman, who was identified as S.B. for the article, the crowd received C.K. warmly when he started his set, but the applause at the end was muted. The lineup at the Comedy Cellar was “all-male,” both women said, while the crowd was “mostly white.” S.B. added that the few women who were sitting in the front row were visibly displeased with his appearance, and that there were “aggressive men in the audience and very quiet women.”

“There were at least four to five females that I could see, and three or four of them were not having it,” she said. “They were just looking at him, deadpan, straight, not having it.”

Representatives for C.K. did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s requests for comment.
