People Are Straight Up Losing It Over Miley Cyrus’ New Song ‘Malibu': ‘Beautiful,’ ‘Masterpiece’

Pop star released her new single on Thursday, and the internet is loving it

People are straight up freaking out over Miley Cyrus’ new song, “Malibu,” which the singer released on Thursday.

Many also took to social media to praise Cyrus for heading back to her country roots after Cyrus sparked multiple headlines over the past years with her raunchy antics. In 2013, for example, Cyrus faced negative reactions after her VMA performance with Robin Thicke.

Then, her “We Can’t Stop” music video showed the world she was no longer willing to be the squeaky-clean folk singer, and her “Wrecking Ball” music video drove that clean-cut sentiment home.

“Malibu by @MileyCyrus.. no words.. simply and beautifully written,” tweeted one user, while another wrote, “Malibu by @MileyCyrus is amazing. maybe be one of her best yet.”

It seems that “Malibu” is about the 24-year-old singer’s rekindled romance with former fiancé Liam Hemsworth — the couple got back together last October after three years apart.

Earlier this month, Cyrus revealed she was going back to basics with her new album, which includes no strap-ons, no giant teddy bears and, for now, no more weed. The new single is part of her still untitled upcoming album. Cyrus’ last albums include “Bangerz” in 2013 and “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz” in 2015.

According to Cosmopolitan, the single will make its TV debut on May 21 when Cyrus will perform the love song at the Billboard Music Awards.
