Producers Guild Announces 10 Finalists for Showcase Awards

The PGA has named 10 finalists for its Producers Showcase awards. A winner will be announced at the Produced By Conference in June

The Producers Guild of America has chosen the 10 finalist film projects for its 2012 PGA Producers Showcase.

The competition will be part of the fourth annual Produced By Conference, to be held on June 8-10 and hosted by Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif.

The 10 finalists will receive free admission to this year’s conference, where they will participate in one-on-one meetings with top Hollywood financiers, studios and production companies.

A special ceremony will be held at the conference on Sunday, June 10, at which a grand-prize winner will be announced and awarded more than $20,000 in prizes. The nine remaining finalists will each receive $500 in cash prizes.

"This year’s finalists represent what the 'ProShow' competition is all about: high-caliber film projects produced by talented and visionary women and men from across the globe,” Stu Levy, chair of the PGA’s International Committee and chair of the PGA Producers Showcase, said in a statement.

The PGA competition is intended to facilitate global and local film producers’ projects by coordinating business with potential producing partners, film financiers, packagers and distributors, with a particular emphasis on international co-productions.

The 10 projects selected as finalists for the 2012 ProShow competition, listed alphabetically, and their respective producers are:

"Cargo Cult," Janet Musell (U.S.);
"Colusa," Norm Hunter, (U.S.);
"Leni," Eva Orner (New South Wales, Australia);
"My Daughter Moira," Gretchen Kirsch (U.S.);
"Nostalgia," Zaid Abu Hamdan (Jordan);
"Pssst!'" Bill Vigil (U.S.);
"Sammy Lee," Yonghee Lee (Korea);
"Scout," Beverly Gordon (U.S.);
"Winter of Our Discontent," Robyn Kershaw (Victoria, Australia)

Applicants’ projects were reviewed and selected by a panel of prominent Producers Guild members including Gale Anne Hurd, Donald De Line, David Friendly, Richard Gladstein, Gary Goetzman, Lydia Dean Pilcher, Cathy Schulman, Paula Wagner, Bill Stuart and others.

The 2012 PGA ProShow sponsors include TheWrap, Movie Magic and Final Draft.
