“A Quiet Place” will hit another big milestone for Paramount, as it is projected to reach $300 million worldwide on Tuesday. The John Krasinski-directed film will also see its domestic total reach $177 million, passing the North American run for last year’s Oscar-winning horror phenomenon, “Get Out.”

It’s a big victory for the studio’s CEO Jim Gianopulos, as this is Paramount’s first big box office hit since he took over for the late Brad Grey a year ago. While the studio has had other recent releases with higher global totals like “Transformers: The Last Knight,” none of its 2017 releases had a domestic total of above $150 million.

In fact, “A Quiet Place,” which was shot on a production budget of just $17 million, has now made more money in North America than any Paramount release since “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” three years ago.

And while Warner Bros.’ “It” recently shattered box office records with its $700 million run, it’s worth noting that not many horror films end up reaching the milestone “A Quiet Place” has achieved. Even “Get Out,” which became the standard for delivering a huge return on such a small budget investment, squeaked by the quarter-billion mark worldwide with $255 million.

“A Quiet Place” is now in the company of a select few horror films that have reached $300 million worldwide this decade, including the aforementioned “It,” “The Conjuring” and its sequel, and last year’s “Annabelle: Creation.”

Paramount announced at CinemaCon last month that a sequel is being planned, though no further details were revealed. The studio’s next major release, “Mission: Impossible — Fallout,” will hit theaters on July 27.
