CBS topped Thursday outright in both primetime TV ratings and total viewers. It certainly didn’t hurt that its hit reality series “Big Brother” aired the lone original episode across the English-language broadcast television channels last night.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.2 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.7 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Big Brother” at 9 p.m. posted a 1.6/7 and 6.2 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 0.7/3 and in viewers with 3.3 million.

It’s worth noting here that the NBC station in New York City and the CBS station in Cleveland carried the New York Jets-Cleveland Browns NFL football game. For now, “Thursday Night Football” airs on NFL Network and its the two teams’ local markets. Fox’s rights begin next week.

Telemundo was third in ratings with a 0.5/3, but fifth in viewers with 1.4 million.

ABC, Fox and Univision tied for fourth in ratings, each with a 0.4/2. ABC was third in total viewers with 2.4 million viewers, Fox was fourth with 1.5 million and Univision was sixth with 1.3 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 645,000.
