Ratings: ‘Community’ Grows With Premiere; CBS Wins With Rising ‘Big Bang Theory’

NBC's new drama "Do No Harm" falls off 22 percent from premiere

NBC's "Community" made its long-awaited return to the air with a ratings boost Thursday night, while CBS took an overall win based largely on the strength of the top-rated "The Big Bang Theory," according to preliminary numbers.

CBS took top honors in the key 18-49 demographic with a 3.5 rating/10 share and in total viewers with 14.2 million. "The Big Bang Theory" at 8 p.m. climbed 13 percent from last week to a 6.1/18, the night's best performance in the demo, and posted 18.8 million total viewers, the night's largest audience. "Two and a Half Men" at 8:30 inched up to a 4.1/11 and drew 14.1 million total viewers. "Person of Interest" at 9 posted a 3.2/8 with 15.2 million total viewers, while "Elementary" the following hour was up slightly with a 2.3/6 and took 11 million total viewers.

Fox came in second in ratings and total viewers with a 2.4/7 and 9.6 million. "American Idol" dipped 9 percent to a 4.1/12 and drew 13.2 million total viewers, while "Glee" the following hour inched up to a 2.2/6 and had 6.1 million total viewers.

ABC drew third in ratings and total viewers with a 2.4/7 and 7.2 million. Following a "Shark Tank" repeat, "Grey's Anatomy" at 9 climbed 11 percent to a 3.1/8 with 8.8 million total viewers. "Scandal" at 10 ticked up to a 2.8/8 and took 8 million total viewers.

Univision came in fourth in ratings and total viewers with a 1.7/5 and 4 million.

NBC drew fifth place with a 1.4/4 and 3.2 million. The Season 4 premiere of "Community" posted a 1.8/6 — up 6 percent from its last season premiere in September 2011, and 38 percent from its season finale in May 2012. The episode drew 4 million total viewers. "Parks and Recreation" at 8:30 was up 18 percent from its last original two weeks ago with a 2.0/5 and took 3.8 million total viewers. "The Office" at 9 ran even for a 2.1/6 and took 4.3 million total viewers, while the freshman comedy "1600 Penn" at 9:30 slid 15 percent for a 1.1/3 and had 2.8 million total viewers. The new drama "Do No Harm," which got off to a distressing start with last week's series premiere, fell another 22 percent for a 0.7/2 and drew 2.2 million total viewers.
