Ratings: Fox’s ‘Filthy Rich’ Has a Pretty Poor Debut

ABC’s simulcast of “Monday Night Football” blows up broadcast competition

Fox’s “Filthy Rich” wasn’t exactly rolling in TV ratings on Monday night. The network’s debut of “L.A.’s Finest,” which served as the lead-in for the Kim Cattrall drama, did a little bit better. Either way, an ABC simulcast of “Monday Night Football” annihilated the rest of broadcast television on what was technically the first weeknight of the 2020-21 TV season. The opening of the Las Vegas Raiders’ new stadium aired on both ESPN and ABC as a special salute to the 50th anniversary of “Monday Night Football,” which started on ABC in September 1970. We should note here that Monday night’s Total Use of Television (TUT) level was down 21% from the same day last year. Due to the nature of live sports, the below numbers for ABC are subject to adjustment when final ratings come in later Tuesday. ABC was first in ratings with a 1.6 rating/10 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 6.9 million, according to preliminary numbers. ABC aired the above-mentioned “Monday Night Football” game throughout primetime. Fox was second in ratings with a 0.5/3 and third in viewers with 2.9 million. At 8 p.m., the network premiere of Spectrum Originals series “L.A.’s Finest” got a 0.5/3 and 2.9 million viewers. The series debut of “Filthy Rich” at 9 had a 0.4/3 and 2.9 million viewers. NBC, CBS and Telemundo tied for third in ratings, each with a 0.4. NBC had a 3 share, while CBS and Telemundo both got a 2. NBC was second in viewers with 3.2 million, CBS was fourth with 2.1 million and Telemundo was sixth with 1.17 million. For NBC, “American Ninja Warrior” from 8-10 earned a 0.5/3 and 3.4 million viewers. At 10, “Dateline” received a 0.4/2 and 3 million viewers. For CBS, following back-to-back sitcom repeats, “Love Island” at 9 posted a 0.5/3 and 1.8 million viewers. At 10, the network debut of Spectrum Originals series “Manhunt: Deadly Games” managed a 0.3/2 and 1.6 million viewers. Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.3/2 and fifth in viewers with 1.18 million. The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.1/1 and in viewers with 724,000. The network aired all repeats.
