There’s no gray area about it: “Shades of Blue” didn’t perform very well with its Season 3 premiere on Sunday.

The NBC cop drama, starring Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta, just slipped 40 percent in ratings from its sophomore start. To be fair, back then, “Shades of Blue” was paired with a better lead-in, the time slot debut of “Chicago Justice.”

ABC finished first again last night with its run of summer game shows.

ABC was first in ratings with a 0.8 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 4.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. Following a rerun, “Celebrity Family Feud” at 8 p.m. put up a 1.1/5 and 5.8 million viewers. At 9, “The $100,000 Pyramid” had a 0.9/4 and 5.1 million viewers. “To Tell the Truth” at 10 got a 0.8/4 and 3.9 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 0.6/3 and third in viewers with 3.8 million. “Dateline NBC” at 8 received a 0.5/3 and 4 million viewers. After two hours of repeats, “Shades of Blue” at 10 managed a 0.6/3 and 3.5 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 0.5/3 and fourth in viewers with 1.6 million. Following reruns, an original “Ghosted” at 9:30 had a 0.5/2 and 1.3 million viewers.

CBS was fourth in ratings with a 0.4/2, but second in viewers with 4.5 million. At 7, “60 Minutes” got a 0.5/3 and 4 million viewers. “Instinct” at 8 received a 0.4/2 and 5.3 million viewers.

Telemundo was fifth in ratings with a 0.3/1 and sixth in viewers with 681,000.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.2/1 and fifth in viewers with 806,000.

The CW does not currently nationally program Sunday nights.
