Reese Witherspoon Thinks ‘We’re Ready’ for ‘Legally Blonde 3’ (Video)

Actress says she could picture her character, Elle Woods, running for office

Is “Legally Blonde 3” finally on its way? Reese Witherspoon thinks the timing is right.

During a recent appearance on Lifetime’s Rachel Zoe talk show “Fashionably Late,” the actress got her fans’ hopes up when asked about the possibility of continuing the story of Elle Woods, a sorority sister who conquered law school before venturing to Washington D.C. in the sequel.

“A lot of writers, over the years have come up with different ideas for it,” she said. “I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women. And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office.”

It’s been 13 years since “Legally Blonde 2: Red White and Blonde,” but Witherspoon seemed to hint it was time to check back in.

“I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to lately,” she teased. “That said, I don’t know. Call MGM! I have no idea.”
