Relativity Studios has acquired U.S. distribution rights to “Lazarus,” a horror film produced by Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse Productions, and will open it nationwide on Feb. 20, 2015, the company announced Tuesday.
This marks the second partnership between Relativity and Blumhouse Productions, who teamed to release “Oculus,” which has grossed $27.7 million domestically and $40.6 million worldwide since opening in April.
“Lazarus” is directed by David Gelb and written by Luke Dawson and Jeremy Slater. It follows a group of medical students who discover a way to bring dead patients back to life. It was produced by Blum, Cody Zweig, Matt Kaplan and Jimmy Miller. Luke Dawson and Gloria Fan serve as executive producers.
Lionsgate is handling international distribution on “Lazarus.”
Blumhouse’s most recent film, “Ouija,” has spent the last two weeks atop the box office for Universal Pictures.
