Ammer Steps Down as Relativity Marketing Chief

Will be replaced by Peter Adee, who joined the fold in last month’s acquisition of Overture Films

Geoffrey Ammer is stepping down from his post as worldwide marketing president for Relativity Media and will be replaced by Overture Films marketing and distribution chief Peter Adee.

“We are very grateful for Geoffrey’s creative vision and contributions to Relativity’s successes,” said Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, “We wish him the best in his future business endeavors.”

Adee joined the Relativity fold last month when the company acquired Overture's marketing and distribution arms from Starz Media for a reported $10 million.

For his part, Ammer — who previously headed marketing for Marvel and Sony — had only been on the job for about six months, but executives close to Relativity say his parting is amicable.

“It has been my pleasure to work with such a talented team of filmmakers and staff during my time at Relativity," he said in a statement. "I wish them great success with their upcoming films."

With Relativity's output deals with Universal and Sony in place, it's difficult to assess Ammer's marketing footprint during his brief Relativity tenure.

He did ride marketing point on May's low-budget "Saturday Night Live" spin-off "MacGruber," however.
