Seacrest Signs New Radio Deal Worth Reported $60 Million (update)

“American Idol” host will expand radio role, not reduce it

Ryan Seacrest has signed an expanded radio deal with Clear Channel Communications, the company announced Tuesday. No terms were disclosed, but The New York Times said the deal was worth $60 million.

The news means the sleep-deprived Seacrest, 35, has no plans to ease up on his radio duties when his contract expires at the end of this year. The "American Idol" host also hosts three of Clear Channel's top radio programs, is the managing editor and lead anchor of E! News, and produces reality shows, including "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." He executive produces and co-hosts “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”

The deal calls for Seacrest to develop new radio shows for traditionall and digital syndication.

Seacrest will also form a joint venture with Clear Channel to develop and create a record label, music publishing business, live concert series and television content.

Seacrest will continue hosting “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” his music-and-chat program on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. The show is broadcast from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily. The nationally syndicated version of the show, airin in afternoons, will grow to four hours from three. The deal also secures him as host of the American Top 40 chart countdown.

Seacrest’s previous three-year deal with Clear Channel, signed in 2008, was estimated to be worth $35 million.
