Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich Join J.J. Abrams’ ‘Super 8’

Steven Spielberg is producing the Paramount project with Abrams and his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk

Ron Eldard ("Sleepers") and Noah Emmerich ("Little Children") have joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' "Super 8," along with Gabriel Basso and newcomers Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills, Paramount announced on Monday.

Deal Central previously reported on Friday that Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning had been cast in the top-secret project, which the studio has now confirmed.

Abrams is directing from a script that he wrote, based on his own original idea. He's also producing with his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk and Amblin Entertainment's Steven Spielberg, whose early Amblin movies served as the inspiration for the project.

Production is currently underway in West Virginia, and Paramount is scheduled to release the film sometime next summer.

Basso (pictured right) can currently be seen playing Laura Linney's son on Showtime's "The Big C."
