British comedian Brand (seen at left in his booking photo from Thursday) turned himself in on Thursday, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He has been charged with damage to property and battery.

Brand's spokeswoman did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment.

The arrest stems from an incident Monday night, when an apparently agitated Brand snatched the phone away from the photographer and tossed it from a building window.

The comedian, who's in New Orleans filming an untitled Diablo Cody movie, jested about the incident on Twitter earlier this week, writing, "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."

This isn't Brand's first run-in with the paparazzi. In October 2010, he lashed out at a group of photographers, claiming that they were trying to take photos under then-fiancee Katy Perry's skirt.
