The 2020 Screen Actors Guild awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, the group announced Monday.

The newly scheduled date is in line with the Jan. 27 date for next year’s SAG Awards, meaning guild is not shifting its own ceremony in response to the new Oscars timeline established by the film academy earlier this month. It is now slated to take place just two weeks before that year’s Oscars ceremony.

SAG’s announcement comes the same day as the Producers Guild’s decision to schedule its own awards ceremony for Jan. 18 in Los Angeles — the earliest its ever been held, save for 2004 when it took place on Jan. 17.

The Academy announced a number of dramatic changes for the 2020 awards, including moving from the original Feb. 24 date to Sunday, Feb. 9.

The guilds, including SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America, have a long-standing ambition to dole out their individual prizes before the Oscars, which is considered the closing event of a protracted awards season.
