“Scream” will go another round at MTV.

The network announced on Friday that its adaptation of the classic Wes Craven film series will return for a six-episode third season. No details about casting, showrunners or premiere date have yet been announced.

As previously announced, MTV is also set to air a two-hour installment of “Scream” on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Halloween special will pick up eight months after Season 2, which concluded in August.

In the episode, set around the one-year anniversary of Piper’s killing spree from Season 1, Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) and her friends are determined to be as far from Lakewood as possible. Stavo (Santiago Segura) suggests the rest group join him and Noah (John Karna) for a weekend on Shallow Grove Island, where they’re researching for their graphic novel about a Lizzy Borden-esque legend. Just when they thought they were safe, the Lakewood survivors find themselves in another bloody standoff.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein serve as executive producers on “Scream” for Dimension TV. Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad also executive produce. Matthew Signer and Keith Levine produce. Craven, who passed away last August, is also credited as an executive producer on the series.
