With the recent release of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and Christmas right around the corner, someone correctly guessed the Internet would appreciate Chewbacca singing “Silent Night.”
People at How It Should Have Ended put together the video, using clips from the “Star Wars” films. In the clip, Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and droid C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) also make an appearance.
“Merry Wookie Christmas from HISHE and James Covenant!” the website captioned the video. “The brilliant idea for ‘Chewbacca Sings Silent Night’ was actually created in 1999 by Scott Andersen and since then his audio has been shared many times, often without crediting him. You can download the original at the link above, or better yet support his genius by hiring him for web design. With Scott’s ‘blessing’ and in honor of Christmas and ‘Star Wars’ season, James Covenant (creator of the awesome Star Trek “Make It So” video) was inspired to create this new video for our channel to wish you all a very ‘Star Wars’ Christmas!”
Chewbacca was making headlines earlier this year, when a woman named Candace Payne (now dubbed “Chewbacca Mom”) went viral for a video in which she wore the mask of the “Star Wars” character.
The Chewbacca video went viral on May 19, wherein Payne can be seen donning the mask in her car. She slides it on and opens her mouth, causing the mask to let out an electronic Wookiee cry. Cue the most hysterical laugh you’ll ever hear.
