Felicity Jones unveiled a new clip from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” in which her character Jyn Erso appears to be a complete bad ass.
In the new clip she premiered on “The Tonight Show” Wednesday, stormtroopers are chasing Jyn, but she actually ends up taking them all out with fight skills she learned during her kung fu lessons.
“I did a lot of kung fu,” the actress told host Jimmy Fallon. “It was many hours of devotion and practice and doing it over and over again. I’m wanting to make Jyn a bad ass.”
Fallon wanted to see her new fighting skills put to the test, so the duo enacted a scene from the “Star Wars” film. However, Fallon had enough early on.
The upcoming film, directed by Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla”), stars Jones as rebellion leader Jyn Erso. It takes place between the prequel and original trilogies and depicts Erso’s efforts to steal the plans for the Death Star, the ultimate weapon of the Galactic Empire, which has terrorized children everywhere since the first “Star Wars” in 1977.
Among Erso’s allies are Rebel intel officer Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Force warrior Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), and Clone War veteran Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker). Mads Mikkelsen, who also played the villain in Disney-Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” plays Galen Erso, Jyn’s father.
“Rogue One” hits theaters on Dec. 16.
