Starz Licenses 500 Lionsgate Films

Pact for cable rights includes such films as ”Dirty Dancing,“ ”Crash,“ and the Madea franchise

“Crash,” “The Expendables,” and Madea are coming to Starz Entertainment.

Lionsgate is licensing more than 500 movies to the cable company, the studio said on Thursday.

Financial terms of the multiyear agreement were not disclosed.

“This is another significant step in the ongoing monetization of our 13,000-title filmed entertainment library,” Jim Packer, Lionsgate's president of worldwide television and digital distribution, said in a statement.

The movies will appear on the Starz, Encore, and Movieplex premium channels and will include such titles as “The Last Exorcism,” “Margin Call,” “Rambo,” “Reservoir Dogs,” and “Dirty Dancing.”  

The films were appear after they are featured on Epix, the cable channel Lionsgate launched with Viacom and MGM in 2009.
