Summit CEO Robert Friedman Honored by Ernst & Young

Studio chief named “entrepreneur of the year”

Summit Entertainment  Co-Chairman and CEO Robert Friedman has been named an Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur Of The Year." The studio chief was named the national winner in the media, entertainment and communications category.

Summit has been on a streak of late, releasing the mega-grossing "Twilight" franchise and the best-picture winning "The Hurt Locker."

Friedman was recognized for building up Summit's theatrical motion picture development, financing, production and distribution studio. He was named the winner of the contest at the Ernst & Young's gala last Saturday.

Previous recipients include AEG’s president and CEO Timothy Leiweke in 2009 and David Liu, co-founder and chief executive officer of The Knot, Inc. in 2008.

In addition to Friedman, this year's finalists in the media, entertainment, and communications category included: Jeffery Gardner, president, CEO of Windstream Corporation; Matthew O’Connell, CEO, president, director of GeoEye Inc; and Andy Ory, CEO, president, co-founder of Acme Packet.
