Sylvester Stallone Helps Michael B. Jordan Pack a Punch in First Trailer for ‘Rocky’ Spinoff ‘Creed’ (Video)

Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station”) directed the boxing movie for Warner Bros. and MGM

MGM, Warner Bros. and New Line have released the first trailer for “Creed,” a new entry in the beloved “Rocky” franchise that finds Sylvester Stallone training Michael B. Jordan, who plays Apollo Creed’s son.

Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station”) directed the boxing drama, which co-stars Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad as Apollo Creed’s widow.

Jordan plays Adonis Johnson, who never knew his famous father because he died in the ring before he was born. With boxing in his blood, he heads to Philadelphia to ask Rocky Balboa (Stallone) to be his trainer. Rocky is reluctant to return to the sport but Adonis’ strength and determination convinces the elder boxer to take him on.

“Creed” will make it a Thanksgiving to remember and hopefully restore the “Rocky” franchise to glory when it hits theaters on Nov. 25.

Jordan previously worked with Coogler on the critically acclaimed drama “Fruitvale Station,” which won a handful of awards.
