The CW’s “The Flash” has added a new villain to kick off its second season. Former WWE wrestler and “Haven” star Adam “The Edge” Copeland has been cast to play DC comic book character Atom-Smasher.
Copeland will appear in the Season 2 premiere episode and is described as one of the season’s most powerful villains. Atom-Smasher comes to Central City with the sole purpose of killing The Flash, and his incredible strength and ability to grow to large sizes makes him nearly unbeatable.
As revealed at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, “The Flash” has also added “Masters of Sex” actor Teddy Sears to its Season 2 cast. He will play Jay Garrick, whom DC comic book fans will recognize as the first character to take the moniker of The Flash.
Copeland has performed on “WWF Smackdown!” since 1999 under his wrestling name “The Edge,” and is also a recurring actor on Syfy’s “Haven.” The second half of the fifth season of “Haven” has yet to air.
“The Flash” returns on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
