Two contestants were kicked off “The Masked Singer” Wednesday and neither was Jake Gyllenhaal. If you watched the episode, you understand why that’s important. If you haven’t yet (why are you reading this?), the answer will become clear momentarily.

During Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer,” remaining Group B contestants Queen of Hearts, Banana Split, Caterpillar and Mallard all competed for the two available slots in their finals round. The four competitors got one more chance each to sing for host Nick Cannon and “Masked Singer” judges Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong and guest panelist Cheryl Hines.

Now, here’s where we get to the Gyllenhaal of it all: When Caterpillar was finished singing Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places,” McCarthy was so sure he was Jake Gyllenhaal that she asked for the Take It Off Buzzer to be brought out once again so she could hit it for the judges’ one allotted attempt to use it on Group B.

She smacked that buzzer and said Jake’s name — but Cannon said she was wrong, so Caterpillar got to keep his mask on and Jenny was sentenced to cleaning Ken’s dressing room.

After that case of mistaken identity and the other contestants’ performances, it was time for “The Masked Singer” judges and the audience to vote for the two competitors they wanted to move on to the Group B finals. The ones with the most votes were Queen of Hearts and Banana Split, and those with the fewest votes were Caterpillar and Mallard.

Mallard, who sang Sugar Ray’s “Fly,” turned out to be “Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson, though the judges guessed he was Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Billy Ray Cyrus and George Foreman.

Caterpillar was unmasked to reveal “Queer Eye” host Bobby Berk. Following Jenny’s very wrong Gyllenhaal guess, panelists thought he might be Tyler Hubbard, Dan Levy, Owen Wilson, AJ McLean or Jim Parsons.

Robertson’s Mallard and Berk’s Caterpillar join this growing list of already unmasked “The Masked Singer” Season 6 contestants: Pepper (Natasha Bedingfield), Jester (Johnny Rotten), Beach Ball (Honey Boo and Mama June), Hamster (Rob Schneider), Cupcake (Ruth Pointer), Octopus (Dwight Howard), Mother Nature (Vivica A. Fox), Pufferfish (Toni Braxton), Dalmatian (Tyga) and Baby (Larry the Cable Guy).

Still in the running for a “Masked Singer” win are Group A’s Skunk and Bull and Group B’s Queen of Hearts and Banana Split.

Per Fox, “The Masked Singer” Season 6 contestants “boast a combined 85 Grammy Nominations and 27 wins, three Academy Award nominations, 12 Emmy Nominations, 12 Razzie Award Nominations, two Super Bowl appearances and two Lifetime Achievement Awards.”

“The Masked Singer” will return with a new episode Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 8/7c on Fox.
