‘The View’ Addresses Slut-Shaming on ‘The Bachelorette’: ‘When Did Twitter Become the Sex Cops?’ (Video)

“Sleeping with these men was the most legitimate attempt to find somebody compatible,” co-host Nicolle Wallace says

“The View” panelists took issue with a series of tweets read to “Bachelorette” star Kaitlyn on the “Men Tell All” special Monday night, with co-host Nicolle Wallace saying, “When did Twitter become the sex cops?”

During the ABC special, host Chris Harrison read tweets calling Kaitlyn a “whore” and a “slut” for sleeping with multiple men on the show. “I thought Twitter was more evolved,” Wallace said.

“I think sleeping with these men was the most legitimate attempt to find somebody compatible,” Wallace continued. “What are you supposed to do, go on fantasy dates with them and see if you like kissing? Sleep with them all. See who you like.”

“A lot of the people that are saying those things on Twitter are blocked accounts. You have to be let in to see their accounts,” co-host Raven-Symoné. “They literally do not like for you to be a part of their account because all they do is hate.”

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg also chimed in, saying people should be willing to stand by their thoughts and not conceal them.

“I always say I don’t care what people tweet me,” Goldberg said. “If you’re going to have enough cojones to write to somebody and call them a slut — by the way, I think that’s from the same person, the second and third tweet — then stand up and say ‘I’m proud to say it.’ Don’t be afraid.”
