Toby Jones Cast as Villain in ‘Captain America’

The “Infamous” star will play Nazi scientist Arnim Zola in Joe Johnston’s Marvel movie

British actor Toby Jones is in final negotiations to play villainous scientist Arnim Zola in Joe Johnston’s "Captain Amerca," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In the Marvel comic, Zola was a genetic engineer who created clones and performed various experiments for the Nazis during World War II. He wound up creating a robot and inserted his face into its chest cavity to survive the war.

Jones is the second actor to sign up to battle Chris Evans’ Cap, after Marvel confirmed that Hugo Weaving will play the main villain The Red Skull earlier this week.

Meanwhile, CHUD has speculated that Jones’ character could be responsible for the creation of the Red Skull.

Jones earned critical acclaim for playing Truman Capote in Doug McGrath’s "Infamous," the better of the two Capote biopics. He’s also played real-life figures Karl Rove and Swifty Lazar in Oliver Stone’s "W." and Ron Howard’s "Frost/Nixon," respectively, though he’s perhaps best known for voicing Dobby the House Elf in the "Harry Potter" movies.

Jones, Ciaran Hinds and Alice Braga recently signed on to join Anthony Hopkins in Mikael Hafstrom’s exorcism thriller "The Rite." Jones will next be seen opposite James Franco and Natalie Portman in David Gordon Green’s comedy "Your Highness."

Casting is still under way on "Captain America," which begins filming this summer in England.
