TV Anchor Sick of Kardashians Doesn’t Hate Them: ‘My Issue Is From the Media Standpoint’ (Video)

“Good Day Orlando” anchor John Brown comments on going viral for refusing to talk about the famous family on the air last week

The TV news anchor who went viral for walking off stage to protest a Florida morning show’s coverage of the Kardashian family “wasn’t angry” at the reality stars, but being “very sarcastic” to point out the media’s obsession with them.

“Good Day Orlando” host John Brown used air time onWednesday to address his rant that has been applauded by Kardashian haters across the country.

“My issue isn’t with the Kardashians,” said Brown. “I don’t have a problem with them at all, I’ve never seen the show. My issue is from the media standpoint — we feel like the public wants to hear it. The public hears it so much about it that they think the media is going to give more. It’s this huge cycle.”

His Fox 35 co-host, Amy Kaufeldt, attributes the popularity of the video to it being funny and entertaining. But Brown also raised a great point: Why do media outlets feel they have to cover the Kardashians?

“Why someone feels the need to put them in the news and in the paper every single day — I don’t get it,” Brown said.

Last Friday, one of the show’s segments dealt with Kylie Jenner‘s new bunny named Bruce. Brown walked off stage, refusing to talk about the Kardashian family. He wasn’t seen for the rest of the segment, but could be heard complaining about the famous family in the background.

“I’m sick of this family. It’s a non-story!” Brown shouted during his rant. “We’re talking about the family every freakin’ day on this show. Nobody cares about this family anymore!”
