The Kelsey Grammer drama "Boss" has been canceled by Starz, the network said Monday.
The series, which starred Grammer as Chicago mayor Tom Kane, ran for two seasons, and scored a Golden Globe award for Grammer. (The show had also been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Drama Series.)
“After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with 'Boss.” We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers, and are grateful to Kelsey Grammer, (series creator) Farhad Safinia and our partners at Lionsgate TV," the network said in a statement.
According to a Starz spokeswoman, discussions are being held to give the series — which wrapped its second season in October — a two-hour finale, though the discussions are preliminary they are not close to a deal.
