Investment firm Allen & Co.’s annual conference in Sun Valley, Idaho — often referred to as summer camp for billionaires — is underway and everyone from Shari Redstone to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in attendance.
Perhaps Adweek’s Tim Baysinger put it best when he tweeted, “It’s Sun Valley week, wherein journalists turn into glorified paparazzi.”
The event isn’t open to the media, but that doesn’t stop reporters from hanging around in the hopes of getting a scoop. So far, the biggest items to come out of the event are an assortment of Twitter posts featuring pictures of billionaires and media moguls walking around, grabbing coffee and getting into cars … just like us.
Also scheduled to be in attendance are Disney CEO Bob Iger, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman, Facebook CEO and chairman Mark Zuckerberg, NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft and News Corp’s Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch .
