‘Walking Dead’ Scores 13.9M Viewers, Down From Premiere

Earns 9.1 million in key demo against tough competition from football

“The Walking Dead” scored 13.9 million viewers total viewers Sunday, 9.1 million of them in the key 18-49 demographic. Those numbers were impressive, but down from the show’s premiere last week.

This week, the show faced tougher competition from “Sunday Night Football,” TV’s highest-rated and most-watched show. Last season, and so far this season, “The Walking Dead” has been the top-rated show besides “SNF” in the key demo. Broadcast shows like “NCIS” and “Big Bang Theory” have topped it in total viewers.

In its premiere last week, the zombie drama crushed previous records with an astonishing 16.1 million total viewers and 10.4 million viewers in the key demo.

With Sunday’s rating, the show remains on track to once again be the top-rated non-sports show of the season — but it isn’t on track to unseat “SNF” as the top show overall.
