Watch an Airline CEO Get Lemon Meringue Pie Shoved in His Face

“Now, if there are any more pies can you get it over with now,” Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said

Airline CEO Lemon Meringue Pie

People have been rightly annoyed with airlines lately, and one airline CEO got a taste of his “just desserts.”

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce was hit in the face with a pie while giving a speech on stage. According to ABC News, a man in his 60s wearing a suit walked onstage while Joyce was speaking, pressed a pie into his face, and walked off.

And it wasn’t just any pie — it was lemon meringue.

“Well, I’ve been CEO for Qantas now for close to nine years, and it was a new experience,” Joyce said after the event. He took a moment to change and clean the cream off of his suit (they’re very foamy and delicious when baked right), then returned to finish the speech.

“Now, if there are any more pies can you get it over with now?” he said upon his return, according to ABC.

The Australian newspaper identified the pie-ssailant as someone who objected to Joyce’s support of marriage equality in Australia. Joyce was in Perth to announce direct flights on Qantas between Perth and London.

Recently airlines have been the source of a lot of scorn thanks to the viral video of a passenger aggressively dragged off a United flight. In no circumstance do we condone violence, but this form of justice might be the “sweetest.”
