Watch Anthony Weiner’s First Campaign Ad for NYC Mayor (Video)

Weiner is in the running, asking for a second chance

How do you run for office again after resigning in a tweeting scandal?

Like this: Former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner admits in his first campaign ad for New York City mayor that he "made some big mistakes" but hopes he'll get "a second chance to work for you." The ad was posted on youTube at midnight.

Surprise, surprise: Weiner tries to cut off memories of the time he tweeted a crotch-shot to a stranger by opening the video with a scene of him and his wife, Huma Abedin, with their newborn son.

The campaign ad arrives almost exactly two years after Weiner tweeted the image of himself in his underwear to a Seattle college student. He initially claimed his Twitter account had been hacked, but eventually admitted that he had "exchanged messages and photos of an explicit nature with about six women over the last three years."

In the new ad, Weiner sells himself as a champion of the middle class, promising to take on New York City's high rents and home prices, and to help small business owners overcome a slew of regulations.

His opponents include City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who leads in a new Quinnipiac University poll.
