Warner Bros. will release Jonathan Liebesman's "Clash of the Titans 2" on March 30, 2012 against Paramount's CGI-animated comedy "The Croods," the studio has confirmed to TheWrap.
Warners has also set an April 8 release date for Jason Winer's "Arthur" remake, which stars Russell Brand, Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner.
Additionally, WB has pushed back the release of the Steve Carell-Ryan Gosling comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love" from April 22 to July 29, while simultaneously moving up Luke Greenfield's romantic dramedy "Something Borrowed" from June 10 to May 6.
WB was previously scheduled to open Seth Gordon's "Horrible Bosses" (pictured above) on July 29, but the workplace comedy is now undated and will be released at some point next summer, which should be a promising one for WB, as the studio will release "The Hangover Part II" (May 26), "Green Lantern" (June 17) and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2" (July 15).
Dan Fellman, WB's president of domestic distribution, indicated that test screening audiences have embraced "Crazy, Stupid, Love" so the studio wanted to give the film a prime summer platform.
Oddly enough, Deal Central has heard that "Horrible Bosses" is testing equally strong and has the potential to be a breakout hit next year, with Jennifer Aniston said to deliver a comedic performance on par with Tom Cruise's hilarious turn as obnoxious movie producer Les Grossman in "Tropic Thunder."
John Requa and Glenn Ficarra co-directed "Crazy," which stars Carell as a man whose life unravels after his wife leaves him. He begins to seek out romantic conquests under the tutelage of a younger ladies' man (Gosling). The film boasts an impressive supporting cast including Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon and John Carroll Lynch.
"Something Borrowed" is based on the novel by Emily Giffin and stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson and John Krasinski. It was previously set to compete against J.J. Abrams' "Super 8," but will now square off against Paramount's "Thor" and "Jumping the Broom."
Finally, WB has moved up the family drama "Dolphin Tale" two weeks to Sept. 23.
